Barefoot Bowls FUNdraiser

On a sunny Sunday afternoon, we gathered the willing and wonderful at Killara Bowling Club to bring more joy and connection to our Vote1indu campaign for a more vibrant, sustainable and connected community.

We rolled, we bowled, we ate (always) and we chatted about what’s important to each other and maintaining and growing the brilliance and beauty within Ku-ring-gai. As the sun set, and balls clashed and clanked we heard great stories from the outreach at stations, shops and ovals in the area. We navigated social media feedback and discussed our excitement over the potential to reinvigorate arts and culture; particularly after witnessing the energy and excitement at the Ku-ring-gai Arts and Culture Festival’s Winterval event organised by Marian Street Action

We celebrated the community gathered at the bowling club this crisp Sunday afternoon – teens who came to indulge their parents and left enthusiastic about democratic action; generational local residents and those who arrived from many corners of the world; Ku-ring-gai-ians sporting saris, West African prints, turbans; supporters from the Central Coast, inner west, and even Queensland, energised to participate in their communities, and political veterans and newbies sharing notes.

Of course, appropriate housing development comes up as the number one discussion point here in Ku-ring-gai and Indu has some great speaking events planned to give her view on how best to embed local aspirations in the planning needed to address bigger picture housing needs of young people, essential workers and wider communities at this crucial point in time.

Firm, always informed and optimistic, we’re ambitious about our position on these topics and their overarching alignment to building a sustainable, enjoyable and more connected community for the long term.

We look forward to connecting with you as we continue to make ourselves known within the community, so please come and say hi, share your story and what’s important to you in local council matters.
